Final Project

I hope this has all the pages in it. I had an interesting time with this, and used a whole bunch of photoshop and illustrator knowledge in creating this. I'm rather proud of it.

Project one: Pre-Press

For this one, I was inspired by the frog photo that was available for us to use right off the bat. I liked that and wanted to d something that looked decently realistic, so I came up with this. I had fun with it, and think I've improved a lot in how to lay things out properly. Might have had one other color, but I think I did ok as is.

I'm going to a wedding convention for work and had to make a flier for it, so I figured why not for my doodle. I'm still working on getting invitation photos for the photo parts, and I think the sub head needs work, but other than that, I think I'm going to show this to my bosses and see if we can't get this printed up.

I had a hard time with this assignment in just timing and trying to figure out what to do, not to mention that I'd already cut and ripped up my magazines for the pictures for another art class project so I had nothing to base it off of besides memory. I really do like the bottom design that I based off of the Javaco exercise files that we work with in the videos, and designed it by myself. I think I pulled it off alright, but it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I hope my doodle turns out better.

Isn't much to say about this design, it's kind of self explanatory.

Intro to me

Hi,

My name is Nikki and I'm working to major in Graphic Design. I have applied for transfer in fall of '09 to Cal Poly SLO and SDSU. I've taken a range of classes dealing with the Adobe products and have loved every one of them thus far. I hope that by being in two online classes I'll be able to keep up a bit better than trying to schedule my life around a set time to go to class. I'm taking three "studio" classes this semester: InDesign-online, Illustrator-online, and Design and Color-on campus.

I work full time at Party City in Encinitas, and I do custom invitations and banners from a program called Inscribe. It's not all that hard, but I feel it's a good step in the right direction to getting me some experience in working with customers and figuring out design elements.

I'm a really upbeat person, and love to have fun with text and colors, almost to the point where I over use them. I love working with the cool color pallet but am trying to bust out of that comfort zone and work with colors I usually don't.

I really don't know what else to say so I guess that's it.

Here's a photo of me taken at Disneyland recently and I guess it's my personality in a nutshell:
